We are Heleen Maris and Wouter-Jan Quaak. At the end of May 2024, we moved to the beautiful and peaceful Lot region in France with our little dog Mishka, just a short half-hour drive from the Dordogne. Here, we made our dream come true and became the proud owners of B&B Domaine des Étoiles. 

In the meantime, our animal family has grown considerably. In addition to our cat Lily, we now share our home with two mules, Jamie and Ninon, and our donkey Galopin. And our youngest guests are absolutely delighted about that! 

Jamie is definitely the boss of the group and, at the same time, a real cuddler. Ninon is curious, adventurous and sometimes wonderfully stubborn. Galopin is a little more reserved and prefers to take his time, quietly observing everything before coming over to say hello. 

Our animals have become an integral part of life here and are now a much-loved part of the holiday experience. For children in particular, it is always exciting and fun to go and see Jamie, Ninon and Galopin.  

Travelling has been a passion of ours for many years, and Heleen previously worked in tourism. We originally come from the Hoeksche Waard in the Netherlands. When our children had grown up and left home, we decided it was time to follow our dream: to move abroad, start a new life and run our own B&B. 

We enjoy our choice every day and feel very lucky to be able to share this beautiful place with our guests.
